Project Description

The Borgaros had a clear vision for their remodel: maximize space and minimize their ecological footprint.

Structural work done to the foundation, walls and roof will ensure that this home will last for many years to come. An updated layout and quality salvaged, local, natural and sustainable finishes will allow it to stay relevant and useful even beyond our clients’ use of the home. Upgraded flash and batt insulation increases R-value and seals up a leaky old home; combined with an efficient ductless heat pump it dramatically reduces heating energy demand.

Strategically placed windows, skylights and LED lighting reduce the electrical lighting load as well. A 6+ kW photovoltaic array more than meets the homes energy needs. A new front porch allows them to enjoy the outdoors year round.

Possessing a natural green thumb, the client did all of her own landscaping with native, drought-tolerant and food-bearing plants that increase the beauty of the neighborhood, minimize water use, reduce food transportation needs and are pollinator friendly (notice the bee hives!). All in all a project that we are very proud to be a part of!
