Chambers-Coda Loft Remodel
We originally remodeled this loft in Portland’s Pearl District in 2011, but when the clients bought the unit next door they had us back to connect the two, remodel the new unit into a primary suite and upgrade the kitchen of the original unit.
We started by creating an arched opening leading into the new unit and just inside it, in place of the kitchen, we added a wine room complete with wet bar and double wine refrigerator. The living and dining areas of the new unit were converted into a primary bedroom with sitting area and an office, and we remodeled the bathroom, adding a vanity built around an old-style wall mounted kitchen sink and a walk-in shower in place of the old tub.
In the kitchen we installed cherry cabinets with wire mesh fronts, an induction range, apron front sink with horizontal ridges and a Calacatta marble island built around a support column. The design, materials and fixtures were selected to both compliment the original 1910 warehouse and be a modern take on Bohemian loft living. All the cabinets in both units as well as the dining table and sitting area coffee table were custom made by a local furniture maker.
