Dunes City New Home

The clients work from home in the technology and art fields and wanted a true live/work, indoor/outdoor home with ultra-low maintenance. Large overhead doors allow the clients to open up the house to the surrounding coastal forest. Radiant concrete floors with an epoxy coating offer durability, low maintenance, and comfort even with the overhead doors open, and allows clients to work on projects “in their living room”. Steel superstructure clad in metal roofing and siding, as well as native and drought-tolerant landscaping, are low maintenance and durable, leaving the clients more free time when they are not working to explore the coast and travel.

“…We thoroughly enjoyed the design process with Alec Dakers and then later the building process with Michael Scarola, our project manager. We appreciated working and exploring with Alec and Michael as they figured out how to build our not so typical house. The entire building crew including in-house and subcontractors were very professional and knowledgable, easy to work with, and fun to be around… Occasionally, both Alec and Michael donned their tool belts and we all worked together to add some of our unique elements. We would definitely recommend Rainbow Valley for your design and construction needs especially if you want to push the envelope and design something out of the ordinary.”
