Foster-Naumoff Kitchen

Carrie Ann and John came to us with a clear vision: a kitchen that wasn’t about flash or excess, but about function, warmth, and lasting beauty. As lifelong educators—a retired elementary school teacher and a history professor—they spend much of their daily lives around the kitchen table, cooking meals from scratch, hosting family, and sharing lessons with their grandchildren. Their remodel needed to respect those rhythms while giving them a space that felt calm, tidy, and built to last.

We designed a kitchen that balances understated elegance with everyday practicality. Walnut cabinetry offers warmth and depth, while granite counters ensure durability for decades of family meals and gatherings. Careful attention was given to storage, from housing an extensive spice collection to keeping appliances neatly organized, so the space always feels uncluttered and welcoming.

The result is a kitchen that reflects Carrie Ann and John’s values—thoughtful, grounded, and designed for real life. It’s a place where fresh ingredients are prepped, grandchildren’s questions are answered, and stories are shared across three generations. Beautiful without being extravagant, this project shows that a well-crafted kitchen can be both accessible and extraordinary in the ways that matter most.

Hiring Rainbow Valley was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Their project managers, designers, cabinet makers, painters, and carpenters all worked together as a team choreographing our kitchen project from beginning to end. Dean, Chris, Tobin, Jeremy, and the others were a joy. They helped guide us throughout the process. They never told us what to do, they just listened carefully to what we wanted then provided advice from their treasury of training and experience. The results fit our vision perfectly. But in the end, what meant as much as the new kitchen itself, was the people that we met in the process. They take pride and care in their work. Rainbow Valley is itself a work of art.
