Pomranky Patio and Spa

The client wanted a timeless oasis in her small urban backyard that had the feeling of a private spa-like retreat fit for year-round outdoor living, cooking, relaxing and entertaining.

To create privacy from nearby neighboring homes, we planted mature bamboo around the custom hot tub and installed custom steel rods for outdoor curtains used to screen off sections of space. The outdoor living room and kitchen sit atop a stained and stamped concrete slab, and are protected by a steel and wood pergola with a polycarbonate roof to let light in but keep rain out.

A water-resistant wood was selected for the construction of the outdoor kitchen cabinetry, aesthetic screenings, and hot-tub deck. In the remaining space, a luxurious and low-maintenance “lawn” of sedum and Corsican mint has been planted amidst stamped concrete stepping stones leading to the custom concrete hot tub.

This project won the Oregon Remodelers Association Outstanding Remodeling Achievement Award for Residential Exterior Specialty, and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry NW Regional Contractor of the Year Award for Residential Exterior under $100K in 2012. This project was featured in Eugene Magazine and 1859 Magazine.

“I’ve been working with Rainbow Valley for eleven years now. I am such a repeat customer I’ve lost count of the projects. We have worked together on an outdoor kitchen, spa and entertainment area, a tile shower, rescue wood floor repair after a water leak, new door installation, kitchen remodel and entire first floor remodel, and the list goes on. They are so caring and conscientious I can’t imagine working with anyone else! Rainbow Valley takes care of their customers and their employees… They are communicative and transparent with schedule and costs which proves invaluable during a remodel!”
