Our clients love to cook and create elaborate meals, but their home lacked a kitchen that allowed them to express their passion and entertain guests in a relaxed manner. To create a cook’s kitchen—but stay within the original kitchen’s footprint to maintain the character of the home—our team expanded the new island, desk, and additional cabinetry into space that had been occupied by an outdated breakfast nook and small closet.
The expansion created a more natural flow of traffic through the kitchen, and opened visibility to the natural light of the dining area.
By relocating the refrigerator, sink, dishwasher and ovens, our team optimized the primary functions of the new kitchen and created space for a central breakfast bar. A maple floor was installed for further continuity with the dining area, offering a warm natural contrast to the colors of the cabinets and granite countertops.
