Sheerin Sport Court

Before our team got to work, our clients were weary of storing anything of value in their old open-bay carport, and had been faced with an inconvenient travel route up to the main house. We removed the old carport and replaced it with a two car garage/sport court—an attractive space for the client’s teenage children to shoot hoops in even the dreariest rainy northwest days.  The high south-facing roofline of the new structure also created the perfect location for a new array of solar panels, fulfilling another of the clients’ goals. Improved safety and ease of access were achieved by re-pouring and finishing the retaining wall stairway, and by adding a concrete walkway around the side of the garage. To soften the impact of the new structure, stone and concrete features were added to the surrounding landscape, which are both functional and low-maintenance. Ample exterior lighting with a switch at the main house improved security to the area as well.
