Wong Kitchen Remodel
While the homeowners’ existing kitchen had been remodeled twice since their home was built in 1992, they felt that neither had really hit the mark. Our team was asked to create a highly functional kitchen with all the modern amenities, but maintain the 1920’s style of the rest of the home. To increase the size of the kitchen without extending beyond the original home’s footprint, we relocated the entrance, basement staircase and nearby closet. The expanded space provides ample circulation through the kitchen to the back yard, and allowed for a new kitchen island.
To keep the finishes consistent with the period of the house, we used a Carrera marble top for the island, black honed granite on the perimeter counters and a full white subway tile splash. We also installed an apron-style sink, and new oak floor and cabinetry to match the rest of the home. The end result is a light, bright and functional kitchen that honors the historic home.
