Pomranky Remodel and Landscape

One of the more unique and fun collaborations we have done with a client, a talented designer in her own right.

When the client bought the house it had already been remodeled several times with each successive remodel seemingly making the house more disjointed. On the exterior it was a non-descript box and on the interior the spaces were ill-proportioned and didn’t connect with any type of flow.

On the interior, we changed the proportions of the kitchen and opened it up to the living room, we vaulted the dining area and added a reading loft above the kitchen, we remodeled the bath, upgrading the finishes, and creating a secret door access to the toilet, and we moved the laundry function from the basement to the main floor.

At the front of the house, we created a more inviting entry by moving the door, adding a cover, and creating a more elegant entry path. On the side of the house, we added a modern angled carport with door directly to the new utility room. And at the backyard, we designed a deck that has a series of levels that step down the hillside to keep the deck more connected to the landscape, created a bathing patio with copper tub and shower, and designed stepping-stone paths out of custom-made sand finish concrete disks.

The resulting home is now modern, eclectic, and fun, and a much truer expression of the client.
